Interesting Candahar, Ghuznee, Cabul Medal 1841-4 with impressed naming to Private William Walsh, 41st The Welsh Regiment.
His service of 16 years and 11 months was all in India, Scinde and Afghanistan. His discharge papers confirm No 427 Private William Walsh was from Duncannon, Waterford, Ireland and enlisted into the 41st Regiment of Foot in March 1825 at Limerick. Frequently tried and convicted he was once sentenced to 100 lashes for theft. His character, in the discharge papers is described as “bad”.
