Exceptional wide suspender Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to a Captain of the After Guard.

Robert Weale was born Saltash, Cornwall, 25th June 1824. On the 12th March 1841 he joined HMS Termagent as a Boy 2nd Class. He then joined the crew of HMS Actaeon from 1845 for 3 years during which period he became and Ordinary Seaman. Weale would have been serving on H.M.S. Actaeon when she captured the slavers Astrea and Theresa on 9 September 1847.

August 1849 he joined HMS Queen before joining the crew of HMS Hogue. He was promoted to AB during his near 7 years on Hogue, he served in the Baltic campaign for which he was awarded the Baltic Medal. He is on the medal roll for Hogue.

He later served on HMS Conqueror, Impregnable and Indus prior to his service on HMS Alert.
