Great War Memorial plaques to two brothers, Sidney Ernest Howe and Albert Victor Howe from Bedfordshire.
Private Sidney Ernest Howe, service number 133353, 50th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps. Died 27th May 1918 aged 19 years. Sidney Ernest is Remembered with Honour at the Vendresse British Cemetery.
Private Albert Victor Howe,service number 263, 5th Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. Died 3rd May 1917 aged 20 years. Albert Victor is Remembered with Honour at the Arras Memorial.
Sons of Robert and the late Kate Howe, of Bordighera, Southcott Avenue, Linslade, Bucks.
The brothers feature on the Linslade War Memorial, Linslade Memorial Gardens, and are also memorialised in St Barnabus Church, Bedfordshire.
Sidney had originally been presumed dead, whereabouts unknown in 1919. In 1920 t was established that he did have a grave. He was exhumed and re-interred in the Vendresse Military Cemetery. His original battlefield cross is now mounted on the wall of St Barnabus Church, Linslade, Leighton Buzzard.
