The Territorial Force War Medal group of William James Clifford Hardy, Dorsetshire Regiment.
Hardy served with 1st / 4th and 2nd / 4th Dorsets serving in Mesopotamia, The Battle of Ramadi and later in France.
Medal Index Card confirms the pair and the Territorial Force medal. It shows that he was twice re-numbered (200581 & 5719514). He was disembodied in 31st May 1919.
William James Clifford Hardy was born July 4 1897 in East Stoke, Dorset to his Gamekeeper father James and mother Bessie. He married, at Dorchester, Florence E V Francis in 1927. He was living in Yeovil, Somerset, during the Second World War as ex RASC and 1st Dorset Regiment. He died in 1968 in Newton Abbott, Devon.
The 1921 Census has him with the Dorset Regiment aged 24 years.
