1st Battalion, Royal Scots Anglo Boer War medal pair to Colour Serjeant Arthur Robinson of Brighton, Sussex.

Arthur Robinson, born St . Peters, Brighton was an 18 yer old porter when he attested in 1883. After 16 years of home service he spent 3 years in the Cape before returning home to leave the army after 19 year service. During his service in the Boer War he was demoted to Serjeant on conviction, 4th June 1901, of drunkenness whilst on duty hence the differing ranks on the 2 medals.

His only entitlement for the Great War is the Silver War Badge which confirms his discharge from the 4th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment. He is recorded as 20910 Colour Sgt enlisting 13th November 1914 and discharged, sickness, 27th January 1915.

The really pleasing lot consists – medals, mounted on a plain but pleasing bar, a Queen’s South Africa Medal with Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Belfast clasps to 1138  C. SGT. A. ROBINSON. RL. SCOTS. and King’s South Africa with South Africa 1901 and 1902 clasps to 1138  SGT. A. ROBINSON. RL. SCOTS.

With his Great War Silver War Badge No. 74189 along with a 4th Volunteer Battalion, Royal Scots Glengarry badge, his National Reserve Sussex badge numbered 6585 and a used bullet from an unknown source and a photograph portrait of the soldier with lastly an attractive gift card to his brother.
