Description
2002 Silver Proof Commonwealth Games £2 Four Coin Set plus plaque.
The silver proof Commonwealth Games set comes complete with a blue velvet presentation box inside a bespoke box and is with a gold plated plaque featuring the Commonwealth Games logo.
There are four different designs, all similar except that the central cameo features in turn the flags of, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The obverse depicts a runner holding a banner which resembles a running track in a victory pose as they cross the line. Between the banner and the finish line is a flag in a circle. Each coin represents a different flag from one of the home nations. Please note that the silver proof £2 coins do suffer from toning which does add character to the coins.
The outer ring is Sterling .925 Silver pleated with fine Gold, the inner disc is Sterling .925 Silver. The plaque is gold plated nickel-brass.
Silver Proof Set, in the original Royal Mint genuine presentation box with certificate of authenticity.
