The medal group of 2260 Gunner Joseph Farley, Royal Regiment of Artillery. He attested, aged 17 years, 1st September 1848.  His first year of service until August 1849 he is marked as underage.

He served just under 5 years abroad which consisted 13 months from June 1855 in Turkey (Crimea) and 3 years 10 month in India. His papers, which are available on-line, confirm his Crimea Medal with Sebastopol clasp with the Turkish Crimea medal. Awarded this Long Service and Good Conduct medal (WO102/12/1) in 1875, with a gratuity of £5.00.

He served a total of 21 years and 83 days with 3rd Battalion & 13th Brigade. He was discharged 22nd November 1870.

Joseph Farley was born in Margate, Kent, in 1831.

Condition – Matching toning on this group. Crimea Medal with contact rubbing to the naming. French issue Turkish Crimea medal on ring suspender. All on replacement ribbon. Overall good condition with signs of wear.
