Great War medal pair to Driver Wilfred Lodge, deserter, awol, thief, liar, drunkard, prison escapee.
Wilfred Walter Lodge born 1890, of Arundel Road, Great Yarmouth joined 18th April 1915 and served as 66233 Driver, Royal Artillery, later as 117745 Private, Labour Corps. He was regularly in defaulters for numerous crimes and spent time in prison from which he escaped. He was tried by Court Martial in 1917 at Bulford Camp,as Driver, 3/3rd South Midland Brigade, RFA, for being AWOL and also losing a significant amount of his stores.
Wilfred Walter Lodge died in Great Yarmouth in 1930 having worked as a carter.
