King’s Royal Rifle Corps
The Hazara Clasp was for the Hazara Field Force under Maj Gen Elles against the Hussanzais and Akazais in the Black Mountains. The insurgents were finally captured on the 9800 feet high Machai Peak.
The Samana 1891 Clasp was authorised for the second Miranzai Expeditionary Force commanded by Brig Gen Lockhart against the Samana Heights where a local Muslim Cleric, Syed Mir Basha, had proclaimed a jihad.
