Herbert John Geary, Military Medal Gazetted – London Gazette 28th January 1918 pp 1386 (21116 Cpl. H. J. Geary, M .G. Corps (Farnboro’).)

Enlisted 10th May 1916 as 1885 L/ Cpl Royal Berkshire Regiment. Entered France 30th March 1915.
He was admitted for Shrapnel Wounds elbow (right), chest and thigh at Rouen but returned immediately to duty – 19th October 1917. Later entitled to wear a “Wound Stripe” (13/11/1917).

Discharged Wounded 17th September 1918, aged 26 years (War Badge number B22190) on Machine Gun Corps Roll

Born, Orpington, Kent, 6th April 1892. Lived 31st March 1901 Cottage, Crofton Hall, Orpington, Kent, then 2nd April 1911, 1 Medmore Cottage, Gladstone Road, Farnborough, Kent. 1939 Census – Corn Dealers Assistant, Bromley, Kent, living at 2 Camden Grove Chislehurst, Kent
1964 – Died, Guys Hospital, London.
