Naval General Service Medal  1793-1840 Algiers clasp.

Algiers clasp ( 27th August 1816 ). This medal is one of 150 awarded to the men of H.M.S. Impregnable, with 21 to Officers ( totalling 171 to the ship) of a total of 1328 medals with this clasp were awarded.

Named to JAMES LIVERTON

Confirmed on medal roll to Landsman James Liverton.

Born Great Torrington, North Devon, in 1784, he died, aged 67 yrs, 1851 in Pilton, North Devon and is buried at Pilton. He served in excess of 14 years, serving lastly on H.M.S. Impregnable.

He married Mary Hoeil at Stoke Damerel, Devon in 1817.
