Charles Edward Defries gained his Royal Navy majority 16th April 1941. He served throughout WW2, initially on H.M.S. Ramillies, then H.M.S. Leith (1940), H.M.S. Dragon (1941), H.M.S. Dundonald (1943) ending the war on H.M.S. Sheffield. He retired 19th June 1958, rank of Commander, see London Gazette 9th September 1958, issue number 41493, pp 5535.

His wartime service medal group would consist – 1939/45 Star, Atlantic medal, Burma Star (with Pacific clasp), Defence medal, War medal.

These medals have pins to rear and have been tucked away for many years and have dusty ribbons.

Born 1919 he died in Chichester, West Sussex 1981.
