Victorian Board of Trade Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea, The Resolution 16th December 1858, large bronze medal awarded to “STEPHEN JENKINS, Wreck of the RESOLUTION 16th Decr 1858”. Medal remains in very good overall condition. The medal was awarded for the following, “When the Resolution of Kinsale, was dashed against the rocks at Monkhaven, Milford, the five last mentioned persons went off in a common boat, which was upset and destroyed, and they narrowly escaped with their lives. The four first mentioned went into the surf, and throwing a rope with a stone attached to the ship, the crew secured themselves to it, and were dragged to the shore.”
